In general, Ari does not need to be calibrated with each use. If Ari does not move when placed on the line, do the following steps to calibrate it. See section below for troubleshooting if Ari follows a line but does not respond to color codes.
On Ari, go to System folder.
Open Sensor Spy App.
Scroll down to Pickup Sensors and press this button.
Place Ari on a flat surface and press the “Write as threshold” button. After doing this, the “picked up” indicator will say “no” when Ari is placed on a flat surface and “yes” when Ari is lifted up.
Now we will calibrate the line following sensors.
If you are using a track with printed black lines for Ari to follow, then print the following Ari calibration track document.
If you are going to draw the Ari track with Ozobot markers then draw a series of lines with the Black Ozobot marker in approximately a 1.5in x 1.5in rectangle (about the size of Ari).
On Ari, go to Toolkit folder.
Open Calibration App.
Place Ari on Black area (printed circle or black marker lines). Ari must have at least 1 inch of white space in front of the black area to roll forward (meaning the black space cannot be on the edge of the paper) and press Start.
Ari’s screen will say “Success” when the calibration is complete. If you get a message on Ari’s screen that the calibration failed, repeat the above steps
If Ari will follow a line but does not react to color codes, try the following steps.
On Ari, go to System folder.
Open Track Tune App.
On Ari, press the option in green that says “Color”.
Place Ari on the outline at the beginning of the track and press “Start” on Ari’s screen.
When Ari reaches the green-blue color code, it will display “Start” again. Ari has now been color calibrated, and you can exit this app.
On Ari, open the Color Codes app and start coding.
