4 Ozobot Edu Activities to Help You Hack Halloween!

We are HUGE Halloween fans here at Ozobot, mainly because it’s the most creativity-inspiring holiday we know of. Between spooky decorations for houses and classrooms, cooking up treats or plotting tricks, and designing wonderfully creative costumes, what’s not to love?

Here to help you make the most of “All Hallows’ Eve-o” are four activities curated by our Ozobot Edu teamtwo Color Code activities, one OzoBlockly activity, and one Costume Contest fit for letting loose with your creative juices and making your bot a costumed Halloween spectacle. So, break out the candy corn, fun-sized bars, and caramel apples for sugary snacks acceptable as brain food only in the month of October, and get to coding during this fall season!

Trick or Treat Lesson

Color Codes
Grades K-12

With this Trick or Treat game and lesson printable, you’ll use colors to code your Evo or Bit and collect candy from as many houses as you can program your bot to visit. The player who collects the most candy wins. If you get stuck, the sixth graders from Notre Dame de Lourdes School will show you how it’s done in the video above! Bonus points if you also dress up your Ozobot in costume (see our 4th activity below…).

Spooky Story Generator

OzoBlockly
Grades 4-8

Robots meet ghost stories! For the times when writer’s block haunts you, let Evo or Bit use a random generator OzoBlockly code to help you create your own spooky story, with frightening adjectives, disgusting nouns, powerful adverbs, and shivering verbs. Then tell your stories with friends, preferably around a campfire, candle, or with a flashlight under your chin, and take them along with your bot all the way to “The (Spooky) End.”

Color Codes
Grades 2-6

Learn about the friendly ghosts of our pasts with this activity for Evo or Bit. Ask family members for stories and traits of loved ones who have passed on, then use the printable family tree template with spots to leave gifts for ancestor spirits on the symbolic ofrenda. Code your Ozobot to visit each family member’s branch on the tree, and celebrate the joy of loved one’s lives and legacies!
