The Ozobot team is back from ISTE 2023 in Philadelphia, where we got to spend time connecting with educators, unveiling our newest products and geeking out on all things STEAM with fellow enthusiasts! Whether you’re a seasoned education professional, a first-year classroom teacher or anywhere in between, ISTE is a fantastic opportunity to explore ways to enhance our schools by incorporating technology in education.
ORA & The Claw Machine Experience
If you stopped by the Ozobot booth, chances are you tried your hand at the claw machine, featuring our newest robot, ORA. ORA is a collaborative robot designed to engage middle school, high school, and vocational school students in process engineering and automation through a unique CTE perspective, unlike other education-focused robotic arm solutions. Compatible with Python and Ozobot Blockly programming, ORA is a high-precision robotic arm with a nearly 18-inch working range and multiple attachments that support learning a wide range of manufacturing processes, including assembly line automation and quality control. Teaching the foundation of process engineering and concurrency with Evo, it also guides students on breaking down complex tasks into smaller, manageable steps.
With this in mind, Ozobot showcased an arcade-inspired ORA claw machine game. Participants were offered two attempts to retrieve a clear ball, each containing a ticket with a prize, including Evo Classroom Kits and Evo Entry Kits. With remote in hand, users learned the mechanics of ORA’s movements, its capabilities with the vacuum attachment and how students would gain critical-thinking skills during operation.
Evo App featuring MetaBot: Winner of Tech & Learning Best of Show!
We’re thrilled to announce the Evo App, now featuring AR-enabled MetaBot, captured a Best of Show award from Tech & Learning!
Designed with accessibility, inclusivity and engagement in mind, MetaBotâ„¢ is an interactive learning experience that enables students to build coding literacy and create with technology in any environment from a single smartphone or tablet. This first-of-its-kind offering enhances the already robust Evo App to bring the Evo coding experience to virtually any student, anywhere around the globe. Showcased on iPads within the Ozobot booth, showgoers could experience the Evo App, using VR Color Code Magnets to build programs, change Evo’s costume and even connect to Blockly for advanced coding. MetaBot is available on the Evo App for iOS and Android.
STEAM Kits & Color Code Magnets
A crowd favorite, Ozobot STEAM Kits take students to outer space, aboard a seesaw and around a sundial, offering a clever and engaging way to enhance the Ozobot STEAM experience. Educators who already use STEAM Kits in their classroom raved about the way students’ faces light up when they come out and the creative ways they’re incorporating Ozobot Classroom standards-aligned lessons. Also on display were the Color Code Magnets: Base Kit — an exciting new product for young learners who are new to color codes and coding with Ozobot. Ozobot Bots & Bytes
The teacher’s lounge got an upgrade this year at the Bots & Bytes happy hour event, taking place at a nearby brewery in the heart of Philly. Ozobot staff and educators were able to take a load off and enjoy discussing Ozobot in the classroom, swapping stories, ideas and future plans in a deeply meaningful way. Safe to say, a good time was had by all!
