December OzoThings: Year-end STEAM Highlights

A new year is upon us! But before we close out the year, we’re taking a moment to highlight the year-end STEAM activities that took place in classrooms across the country! From engaging in coding celebrations during #CSEdWeek, to crafting snow plows and ski slopes for Ozobots, students demonstrated remarkable creativity as they geared up for the holidays and upcoming New Year. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for 2024!

CSEd Week

During CSEd Week, Ms. Yarra’s  fifth-grade students immersed themselves in a week filled with STEAM activities. From Ozobots to mastering color coding, they embraced a wide array of math and science activities.

Mrs. Clifton’s students built a snow plow with their Ozobots and skillfully programmed them using Ozobot Blockly to clear the snow from the road. So impressive!

Mrs. Jenkin’s digital art students created a magical North pole for their Ozobots. They combined their love of art, crafting, and color codes. Truly remarkable!

Snow Day!

@LCPSLegacy Coding Club took the art of color coding to new heights! They orchestrated a thrilling race as their Ozobots zoomed down their programmed slopes, turning Evo into a high-speed skier down a thrilling run!

Can’t Wait for Christmas

Mr. King’s students celebrated the holidays early with the storybook Dasher Can’t Wait for Christmas by Matt Tavares. After reading the book they created a color coded story sequence guiding their Ozobots through the plot.

Ms. Baudoux’s sixth grade classroom created a color coded program around their holiday trees for Evo. What a festive way to wrap up the year together!

Home for the Holidays!

Mr. Stover’s students celebrated the holiday season with a festive combination of Christmas cookies and Ozobots. They skillfully charted a course using color codes, guiding Evo home for the holidays!

Coding Phenomenon

After #CSEdWeek, Ms. Martel’s students  left us in awe! They incorporated Ozobots into caroling and into their holiday wish lists—the spark of computer science igniting in these students is magical!
