Ah, summertime. This time of year brings back fond memories of campfires, sunshine, and meeting new friends. While a lot of in-person summer programs are being canceled this year due to COVID-19, kids now have virtual opportunities that past generations did not.
Ozobots can now be used in-class and for distance learning–during the school season or the summer–so we thought we’d spotlight our favorite Summer OzoThings this month to get you inspired!
You may be asking yourself, “Ozobots can be used remotely?” The answer is: “Yes!” Our main goal is to bring coding and STEAM into all subjects–no matter where students are learning. Things are still up in the air as to how (or if) schools are going to open back up in the fall. Luckily, we’ve launched a brand new 1:1 program to promote equity and engagement for all students, no matter what school will look like this year and beyond!

Class of 2020 Drive-By Graduation
COVID-19 can’t stop graduation! It may have looked very different this year, but the graduating class of 2020 was still celebrated. Whether the school moved the ceremony outside, did a virtual celebration, or a drive-by bash, we hope students felt special.
Rene Perry, Ozobot CE and STEM teacher, created this fun drive-by ceremony honoring graduates with Ozobots and Color Codes.
Summer of Evo
K-5 Tech Integration Specialist and Ozobot Certified Educator, Jennifer Mahin, created this Color Code-ed work of art for her Evos to travel around! What a great way to celebrate the start of summer. “There’s no place like home.” Follow Jennifer on Twitter for tips on remote teaching that work even for rural Kansas!
Take Me Down to OzoTown
Cindy Gonzalez is always coming up with such clever ideas to use Ozobots (hint: she is the creator of the popular Oregon Trail project!). This summer, she is teaching a virtual technology class. Not all of the students have an Ozobot, so Cindy is utilizing one of our OzoBlockly Games, OzoTown, to teach coding remotely with no bots required.
Remote Learning For All Ages
Laura Cress busted out some Color Code markers, white paper, and an Ozobot to show her grandson how fun it is to learn coding with color! Truly putting the ‘A’ in STEAM!
The Case Of COVID
The Coronavirus pandemic has certainly changed the future of education. Many schools are still unsure of how they will proceed with reopening this coming academic year. Fourth grade teacher Denise Plain is trying to make the most of it by teaching her students about the importance of keeping healthy and social distancing with this fun lesson!
Math + Evo = The Perfect Pair
Hong Kong-based educator Adam Hill ups the math-engagement factor by programming Ozobot to travel the perimeter of a rectangle. This looks like such a great way to bring math to life and increase retention!
Adam also recently co-hosted a webinar with his Victoria Shanghai Academy colleagues and digital literacy coaches, Ryan and Fred, about their success building a 1:1 Ozobot program in April.
