With summer rapidly approaching, it’s a good idea to give your bots a good cleaning before they’re stored for the summer break. Cleaning your bots ensures they maintain peak performance and avoid any buildup that could impact the wheels or sensors. Once cleaned, ensure your bots are stored in a safe, dry location (we suggest the Classroom Kit bins!) and are charged and ready for the next school year to begin.
Cleaning Supplies: Disinfecting wipes (Lysol or Clorox) or disinfecting spray, paper towels/ towel, disposable gloves and Q Tips.
- With the gloves on, set the bot on a surface to be cleaned.
- Gently spray your disinfectant into a paper towel or use a wipe to clean the bots’ outer surfaces, anything that hands may have touched.
- With a Q-Tip, gently remove dust and debris from small crevices in the front and back of the bot.
- We don’t recommend spraying around the charging port as too much liquid could get into the tiny openings/connections.
- While unplugged, wipe down the charging cradle and power cable with a dry towel.
- Allow the robots to dry completely before placing them back on their chargers.
- Store your bots, charging cradle and power cable in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Lastly, remove and toss your disposable gloves (if you used them) and wash your hands with soap and warm water.
Be sure to regularly clean your bots to keep them in prime shape and keep germs away!
